The WEBWOOD table by Fabrice Ausset exhibited at DESIGN@Farnese in Rome

For three months, the great galleries of the Palazzo Farnese, home of the French embassy in Italy and symbol of 16th century Renaissance architecture, welcome the work of French designers, produced in both France and Italy.

Under the auspices of the ambassador Catherine Colonna, the pieces have been arranged as if to furnish the palace. They highlight the infinite possibilities of the different eras, and where selected with the help of the artistic consultants Isabelle Valembras and Pierre Leonforte.
They have made the bold choice of reinterpreting decorative arts through the work of thirty or so French Architects, Designers and Interior Designers, each noted for the fields of contemporary design and successful throughout the world. Within the historic decor, eight meter high ceilings and a layout of three grand gallery spaces on the first floor of the palace, these fifty pieces of iconic French design, represent all the different generations, from the most revered to emerging talents, beautifully presented for the Design@Farnese project.

Amongst them, are some of the designers represented on theinvisiblecollection.com such as Olivier Gagnère, Isabelle Stanislas as well as Fabrice Ausset who exhibits the Webwood Table. Its night blue hay marquetry and Ruivina marble version can be found exclusively amongst our selection of products.

“A few months after Design Week and during the Milan Triennale, Design@Farnese is a French showcase in Italy, one of the homes of Design” said Catherine Colonna. “I wanted to show a new side to French creativity that is enriched by this ongoing collaboration with Italy,” added the Ambassador. “It is a rational that now drives all of our diplomatic influence in Italy. Design@Farnese brings together cultural and artistic vibrancy, it promotes and creates a pathway to employment and exports. In Italy, this reflects the determination of French diplomacy to present a new and attractive image of our country. For me, it means taking advantage of the Palazzo Farnese, an outstanding historical venue, a vibrant place, a showcase for the excellence and the inventiveness of the most contemporary French designers.”

Fabrice Ausset

Fabrice Ausset’s global approach to space makes him particularly attentive to colours, materials, and to furniture.  His approach is reflected on a wide range of projects between Interior Architecture and Interior Design: the rehabilitation of a castle, luxury apartments, top hotels, shop concepts and exhibition scenography for major brands… His style between classicism and extravagance combined with clean lines all converge. His love of contrasts comes to the fore when one sees his influences through the outrageous Tony Duquette, through to the minimalism of the Japanese designer Isamu Noguchi. Raised in the tradition of the arts and French excellence, he combines the ancient and the modern in surprising places.
