A trainee architect at the Ecole des Beaux arts in Paris, Isabelle Stanislas did not waste any time after graduation and founded a collective with photographers, landscape gardeners and graphic designers, working together on innovative projects. In the early 2000 she launched, with her partner Leiko Oshima, the So-An agency, a Japanese word to express the concept that only true skills and knowledge can broaden one’s fields of experience.
A taste for minimalist, sharp lines, structure and composition. Isabelle takes elements from the past and she revitalizes them. Thanks to her clever, unparalleled use of light and by favoring contemporary materials, she turns ancient settings into future classics.
Her affinity with and love for fashion make for her informed eye when it comes to texture and feel of a fabric, and when she has to design a new space for some famous fashion brands in the likes of Zadig & Voltaire, Tara Jarmon, Valérie Hash and Aurélie Bidermann.
Her unique talent for mixing different disciplines, from architecture, to brand identity, and set design, working for Hermès and Cartier, to name a few. Her striking furniture in perforated sheet metal, steel, concrete, onyx, cashmere, resin…, which shows her open mind when it comes to creativity. Isabelle Stanislas has refurbished the grand ballroom and the reception hall of the Elysée Palace, the official residence of the president of France.
