The Humbert&Poyet agency is on show at the AD Intérieurs exhibition, this season’s main event celebrating state-of-the art interior design through the work of fifteen designers, carefully selected by the editorial team of the renown AD Magazine. Each participant was assigned to set up a living space in close collaboration with the best and the most talented craftsmen.
Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet have created a nocturnal and intimistic smoking lounge inspired by neo-Art deco. Muffled atmosphere, structured lines, the creation resonates as a tribute to the marvellous Parisian nights with timeless muses such as Marie-Laure de Noailles, a collector and philanthropist of the 1920’s-30’s.
The bar, conversational piece of the room, morphs into a sculptural totem, unfolding in platters of glazed lacquer and patinated bronze. This neo-Art deco inspired smoking lounge is harmoniously complimented by a monolith sofa, a marble carved fireplace and a couple of armchairs surrounding a coffee table –all custom designed. The serrated ceiling is rooted in modernist tradition, and its whiteness contrasts with the crimson rug on the floor… An opposition of very physical materials for an after-sex cigarette.
To shape this original ideal setting, Humbert&Poyet have once more teamed up with prestigious houses: Pouenat, for the metal work, Baccarat for the crystals, Pierre Frey for the fabrics, Codimat for the carpeting, Atelier Tollis for the ceiling, Martin Berger for the murals, adding a final art touch with the White Cube Gallery’s art works.
The episode VI is coming soon…stay tuned!Â
