Background. Collett-Zarzycki Ltd is a 25 year old architectural design practice founded by Anthony Collett and Andrzej Zarzycki. Their speciality is in residential architecture and interior design. Both Anthony and Andrzej by chance were born in Zambia and met in London. The African heritage is a strong bond for a mutual outlook on lifestyle, design and colour. Anthony studied sculpture at Cape Town University before moving to England where he gained a diploma in Interior Design in Hornsey College of Art. In 1979 he graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Environmental Design. Andrzej graduated with a BA Hons in 3 Dimensional Design from Buckingham College. He later joined Anthony Collett, becoming a partner in 1988.

Signature Style. Collett-Zarzycki are best known for a classic contemporary style, and have a natural tendency towards a formal approach to design. The practice believes that the design process should be an evolutionary one. They are therefore progressive, flexible, and innovative in their approach. This is built on the foundation of the knowledge of classical architecture: The designs for the buildings, environments and furniture respect the classical tradition and at the same time reflect contemporary styles and attitudes. They tackle projects sympathetically from conceptual ideas to implementation of architecture, interiors, unique furniture designs, as well as gardens and landscapes.

They love. Whether a contemporary or historic context there is an appreciation of a holistic approach to environments paying particular attention to detail and the use of quality materials as well as their juxtapositions.

Showstoppers. A custom-built villa from the ground up in the South of France incorporating indoor/outdoor spaces, courtyards and top-lit rooms, with site-specific custom designed furniture all set in a lush Mediterranean garden. An apartment on a single level spanning four substantial terraced houses in a prestigious and historic London Square. This complete refurbishment incorporating interior architecture with customised furniture and decoration is a complete example of their approach.
