Background. Born in 1980 in Pordenone, Cristina Celestino studied architecture at the revered IUAV University in Venice. Focusing on interior architecture and design, she started her career by working with some prestigious design studios until she moved to Milan, where she founded Attico Design, her own furniture brand. Cristina creates exclusive projects for private clients and companies whilst consulting as creative director for several brands. She is the recipient of many international prizes and honours, including the Special Jury Prize at the “Salone del Mobile Milano Awards” in 2016, the Elle Deco International Design Award in the “Wall Covering” category with “Plumage” for Botteganove in 2017, and with “Giardino delle Delizie” for Fornace Brioni, in 2019.
Signature Style. Cristina is an avid collector of Italian design masterpieces, and a curious “objects investigator”, as her work is based on observation and research. In her projects, driven by in-depth exploration of the potential of forms and functions, there are historical and contemporary references to the worlds of fashion, art and design. The guiding idea of her creations is clear: the rigorous use of geometry in a process of careful manipulation of traditional forms. Her projects also feature variations of scale and brilliant little inventions, playing with conventional messages and hidden, unexpected meanings. Her style is a well balanced mix of many inspirations borrowed from the collective imaginary, popular culture, shapes and colors found in nature… All these elements come together in a harmonious yet rigorous display, often unexpected and ironic.
