The Cordage lamp is a tribute to the Bilia lamp, a piece designed by the architect and designer Gio Ponti, dear to Laurent Bourgois and Caroline Sarkozy. The latter explains: “This is a tribute to the work of Gio Ponti. It marks both our desire to remember the history of design and our taste for a refined and classic modernity. We like to combine the softness of plaster with the translucent texture of hand-blown crystal. The lamp shines with absolute elegance, like the stacked rings worn by Maasaï women”. Finally, the plaster foot of the lamp takes up the idea of a rope that would wrap around this (i)conical foot.
